Woman on way to Chandigarh electrocuted outside New Delhi Railway station in front of her children

New Delhi, June 26
A young mother died of electrocution while she was on her way to enter the New Delhi Railway station to catch Vande Bharat to travel to Chandigarh.
the deceased was identified as Sakshi Ahuja (34), a resident of Preet Vihar, who was walking towards NDLS station with her parents, two children and her aunt.
The Northern Railways claimed that the accident occurred due to an “insulation failure and not because of any deficiency in the railway’s working system”.
The Paharganj side of the railway station is undergoing renovation and repair work. Sakshi was walking towards the station and slipped near a pole that had loose wires. She was rushed to the Lady Hardinge Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Her whole family watched her and cried for help. The family claimed noone came to help and they struggled for around 20 minutes after which an ambulance reached. Her children watched the mother dies in front of their eyes.
Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa said, “We have registered a case. The site has been examined by forensic teams. We have written to CEA (Central Electricity Authority) to inspect the spot and also wrote to the division railway manager. We are waiting for their reply.”
A case has been registered against unidentified persons under IPC sections 287 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) and 304A (causing death by negligence).
