41 airports in India receive bomb threat, all hoax mails

The police, bomb disposal squads and para military forces carried out anti-sabotage checks that lasted hours

New Delhi, June 19

Forty-one airport  bomb threat emails across the country sending all authorities on a stand to and conducting a massive search operations 

The police, bomb disposal squads and para military forces carried out anti-sabotage checks that lasted hours. Each of them was found to be a hoax. The forces had beefed up security and enhanced checking on the airports. 

The emails were received around 12.40 pm from the ID exhumedyou888@gmail.com.

The airports in Chennai, Patna, Nagpur, Jaipur, Vadodara, Coimbatore and Jabalpur were among those that received the email threats.

The police stated that preliminary probe suggests that an online group called "KNR" is suspected to be behind these hoax threat emails. The group reportedly issued similar emails to several schools in the Delhi-National Capital Region on May 1.

The emails received by the airports carried almost the identical message: “Hello, there are explosives hidden in the Airport. The bombs will soon explode. You will all die.”

The Delhi Police IFSO and Special Cell is already probing the hoax bomb threats to schools and hospitals suggesting the online group that is using Russian servers. The Delhi IGI airport police had also detained a 13-year-old boy from Meerut who had sent threat email for a flight in Delhi just to see if police could trace him or not.
