A new rap song to get 'Nijaat' from narcotic drugs, Korea Police touch the hearts of youth in Chattisgarh

To inspire the youth and attract them in the latest trends of music and social media, the Korea police of Chattisgarh has come up with a unique rap song in Hindi on giving up drugs and start a new life.
The rap song ‘Mile Nijaat’ has been created with the aim to reach every youth in Korea district of Chattisgarh to stay away from drugs and substances.
The lyrics of the song have been written by Shubhank Surve, a lyricist and composer.
The catchy rap song has powerful lyrics stating, “Dukh is baat ka main bana Kabir Singh, dukh is baat ka na bana Vikram Batra..’, (I couldn’t become martyred Army officer Vikram Batra but an addict depicted by actor Shahid Kapoor in movie Kabir Singh) ‘Bacha le mujh Ma, mere tere sang do pal jeena chahta hoon’ (Save me mother, I want live few more days with you).
The video has a young entrepreneur as a protagonist who has done award winning work but gets into a company of friends who are into drugs. The effect of the drugs on him get deep rooted, leaving him give up on how work, family and even violent. He is even shown thrashing his own mother who tries to stop him from consuming drugs. The boy doesn’t realize he has turned towards hell until he meet with an accident that opens his eyes.
The boy gets into de-addition and even aids police by tipping them off on local peddlers and smugglers for a bigger crackdown.
The creation of the rap song with a short film is a part of the ‘Nijaat’ (an Urdu word for liberation) campaign of Korea Police spearheaded by Korea district SP Santosh Singh.
SP Korea Santosh Singh told BW PoliceWorld, “This is a unique initiative where we wanted to blend strict policing and community participation together to fight this evil. The youth who are getting misguided by peddlers and smugglers will receive an impacting message to give up drugs and live a new life”.
“The population of workers and labourers is huge due to presence of mines in these districts. From young to old, the labourers are using drugs which are sneaked into the district through bordering inter-state districts forest areas”.
The Korea police chose rap as a genre for the anti-narcotic drugs message with the increasing likability of this genre among the youth.
The Nijaat campaign of Korea Police was started in August to impact the youth who are getting into narcotics causing emotional, psychological, financial and even physical pain to themselves and their families.
Nijaat has three major roles- police action against business of illegal drugs and narcotics, public awareness campaign with the help of the people, and help in counselling and rehabilitation of people addicted to it.
SP Santosh Singh has been a recipient of the prestigious IACP (International Association of Chiefs of Police) ‘40 under 40’ award. He received the ICAP award for strengthening child friendly policing in Mahasamund district of Chattisgarh and remarkable works in Naxal areas of Bastar and during Covid in Raigarh
Singh served in naxal affected Bastar region of Chattisgarh for four years. Singh’s constant efforts bore fruits in all the districts he served from Sukma, Kondagaon, Narayanpur (naxal affected zones), Mahsamund, Raigarh and presently Koriya.
As a strong believer of community policing and making a difference at the grassroots is Singh’s belief of good policing is impact at the grassroots which Nijaat is making on the affected youth in the district.
The Korea district has arrested 974 persons involved in peddling and facilitating drug peddling, intoxicants and substances supply in the district while busting the big syndicates in Chattisgarh.
