AIIMS neurosurgeon dies by suicide in South Delhi

The victim was identified as Raj Ghoniya (34), a native of Rajkot in Gujarat; working at trauma centre in AIIMS Delhi as neurosurgeon

New Delhi, August 21

A neurosurgeon posted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) allegedly died by suicide in New Delhi. 

The victim was identified as Raj Ghoniya (34), a native of Rajkot in Gujarat. He was working in AIIMS Delhi as neurosurgeon. 

The police stated that the doctor is suspected to have died of drug overdose as some used vials of medicines and syringes were found next to his body. He was found dead at his home in Gautam Nagar of South Delhi. 

The police said that they received a call at around 2 pm, following which they rushed to the spot and found him in an unconscious state. He was rushed to AIIMS hospital, where he was declared dead.

The police also recovered a suicide note was recovered from his house where the victim didn't blame anyone in it, officials added. 

The preliminary probe showed that there was a dispute going on between him and his wife. On the occassion of Rakshabandhan, his wife had gone to her home.

The police have launched a detailed probe.
