New Delhi, April 22
The Bengaluru Police arrested a call centre employee for allegedly attacking an Indian Air Force wing commander in a case of road rage in Bengaluru.
The police identified him as Vikas Kumar (27).
A video was posted by Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose on social media that went viral.
The wife of the IAF officer, Squadron Leader Madhumita Dutta filed a complaint of assault. Vikas filed a cross complaint against IAF officer that he allegedly threatened to kill him.
The First Information Report was filed under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 109 and 115 related to attempt to murder and assault.
The counter complaint was registered even as pro-Kannada groups in Bengaluru threatened to stage a protest over the assault on Kumar and his arrest.
Based on the social media video posted by the IAF officer, the Bengaluru police tracked down those involved in the incident, including the bike rider who was later identified as Kumar.
However, CCTV footage of the incident from cameras of private establishments at the site of the street brawl showed that the call centre employee was thrashed by an enraged person identified as the IAF officer who posted the social media video.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara also said the counter complaint had been filed, and the police were conducting investigations to locate the IAF officer who had travelled to Kolkata.
