New Delhi, January 8

The Delhi Police Special Cell while probing the BullyBai app case have nailed the Twitter handle ‘Giyu007’ who has claimed the responsibility on Twitter behind the harassment of Muslim women and the fact that ‘Giyu’ — an anime character is Neeraj Bishnoi himself who was arrested from Assam.

The Mumbai Police had made the first arrests in the BullyBai app case from Uttrakhand and Bengaluru where mastermind was termed as Shweta Singh of Rudrapur in Uttrakhand.

After Shweta and another aide Mayank Rawal’s arrest from Uttarakhand, the police had revealed that Shweta had spilled the beans on one boy from ‘Nepal’ who allegedly coaxed her to change her Twitter handle and promote the Bully Bai app.

However soon after Shweta’s arrest, the user ‘Giyu007’ claimed the responsibility and tweeted that the police have arrested ‘innocent’ persons and he is the mastermind behind the cases.

With the @giyu44 handle, Neeraj had tweeted that the Mumbai Police had arrested “innocents”. “I am the person who created the app,” he tweeted. In a series of tweets, he asked the Mumbai Police to “publicly apologise for arresting two innocents and defaming them”. “I will personally surrender if someone arranges for my travel by flight".

While the Mumbai Police had directed their investigation towards ‘Giyu’, the Delhi Police Special Cell tracked his down to Jorhat in Assam and identified him as Neeraj Bishnoi.

The officials found out it was indeed Neeraj who was behind creating the app on Github as well as running the Twitter handle. He not only posed as Nepalese national but has a history of online abuse.

The special cell officials said that he had created five Twitter handles in the last eight months. He was found involved in abusing a Congress woman few months ago, creating a fake handle to in a similar case to show a Muslim man was the culprit, posing as a journalist and more, Neeraj has been into the online abuse from months.

As per the investigation, Neeraj had created a Twitter handle in the name of ‘Javed Alam’ which was used to propagate the auction app in July 2021.

The officials have recovered the code script of the website that showed the app was created in November.

The investigators also found out that the accused created this app using Proton VPN so that his identity couldn’t be disclosed. He also used a burner phone number of Poland.

Both the Twitter handles @giyu007 and @giyu2002 were being used to promote the auction app and target the women online.

The officials added that with the @giyu2002 handle he has harassed a Congress woman leader in Kishangarh and posted her photos in the similar pattern for auction.

In addition to that he had created @giyu44 this year to mock the Mumbai Police and allegedly openly challenged them to arrest.
