Bright young officer of Delhi Police, IPS M Harsha Vardhan to join CBI as SP

The Centre has granted central deputation to one of the bright IPS officer of Delhi Police, M Harsha Vardhan who is now going to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The order from Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) passed an order on May 9 appointing Harsha Vardhan as Superintendent of Police in CBI on deputation basis for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge.
M Harsha Vardhan is 2012 batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer who was transferred to Delhi in 2021 from Arunachal Pradesh. He was appointed as DCP Dwarka where he had successful tenure and broke several cases before being appointed as DCP Central, a district that has sensitive zones of Daryaganj, Jama Masjid and others.
Known for his successful stints as DCP Dwarka and DCP Central and also for his impeccable record in law and order, investigation, M Harsha Varshan will be a boon to CBI
As DCP Central, he supervised the investigation of the Rajinder Nagar UPSC students drowning death case, worst tragedy seen in the district recently. In Dwarka, he was really loved by the citizens for his inclusive approach in policing. He has many cases from cybercrime to fraud, busting of organised crime to gangs to his credit as DCP Dwarka.
M Harsha Vardhan was awarded Union HM’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation for his investigation into a major recruitment scam in the exam conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB).
Harsha Vardhan was posted as SP Special Investigation Cell in Arunachal Pradesh where he cracked the recruitment scam case. In that case, it was found that candidates had paid 8-12 lakhs each to the then Under Secretary of APSSB for clearing the exam. The scale of crime was such that during investigation Harsha Vardhan and his team and found that even evidence like CCTV footage had been destroyed. More than 20 persons were arrested in the case. Unexplained transactions were traced to an account linked to the arrested Under Secretary and her husband in Arunachal Pradesh. The accounts containing more than 1 crore rupees was seized.
Harsha Vardhan Rao's father M Vishnu Vardhan Rao is also an IPS officer who was former DGP of Jharkhand. An officer of 1987 batch Vishnu Vardhan is known retired.
His sister M Deepika, an IPS officer is posted in Andhra Pradesh cadre and first woman IPS officer to be posted in Kunoor.
Harsha Vardhan followed steps of his father Vishnu Vardhan Rao and joined the IPS in 2012. He is an alumni BITS Pilani where he completed his of Computer Science Engineering. He is a birder who loves to capture photographs of some rare species of birds across the country.
