CBI Director meets top Brazilian police officer, a candidate for Interpol Secretary-General

New Delhi, April 5
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Praveen Sood met a top Brazilian police official who is a candidate for the post of Interpol Secretary-General.
Valdecy Urquiza, Brazilian Federal Police’s Director of International Cooperation and the CBI Chief agreed to enhance collaborative initiatives to deepen cooperation.
Stephen Kavanagh from the UK, Mubita Nawa from Zambia and Faisal Shahkar from Pakistan are the other contenders. Urquiza is one of the four candidates for the post of Interpol Secretary-General.
The announcement will be made at the 92nd General Assembly in November.
The CBI stated that both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in combating crime, sharing criminal intelligence, sharing best practices, providing mutual legal assistance and improving cooperation via Interpol channels. The Brazilian delegation also visited the Global Operations Centre of the CBI.
Urquiza thanked the central agency for its collaborative spirit.
