CBI registers three FIRs in Uttarakhand fruit plants irregularities matter

The CBI conducted searches at the premises of accused at 24 locations spread over the four states of Uttarakhand, UP, Himachal Pradesh and J&K

New Delhi, June 17

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in compliance of the orders of High Court of Uttarakhand and registered three cases and has conducted searches in the matter related to allegations of irregularities and illegalities in procurement of fruit plants in Uttarakhand.

The federal probe agency conducted searched in Dehradun, Nainital, Pithoragarh and Uttarkashi districts. 

The CBI registered three FIRs against various accused including then Director, Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing, Dehradun; then two Chief Horticultural Officers of Uttarkashi and Dehradun; then Nursery Development Officer, Pithoragarah; then Potato Development  Officer, Udham Singh Nagar; then Sr Horticulture Inspector, Dehradun; Astt Development Officer, O/o Chief Horticulture Officer, Nainital; Proprietor of one Dehradun based firm; owner of a private Nursery at Dehradun, six private persons and other unknown public servants and unknown private persons on the allegations of irregularities and illegalities in procurement of fruit plants planted in Dehradun, Nainital, Pithoragarh and Uttarkashi during 2022-23.

The CBI conducted searches at the premises of accused at 24 locations spread over the four states of Uttarakhand (Dehradun, Rishikesh, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar), Uttar Pradesh (Ambedkarnagar, Baghpat, Noida, Lucknow), Himachal Pradesh (Ponta Sahib, Rajgarh, Solan) and Jammu & Kashmir (Kulgam, Pulwama) and recovered Rs. 13.5 lakh cash and 7 FDs of Rs. 5 lakhs each in the name of wife of an accused.
