CBI to continue questioning RG Kar Medical College former chief in doctor's rape-murder case

Dr Sandip Ghosh was the principal of the college at the time of the incident and has been facing allegations of a cover up, delay in reporting, FIR and other factors

New Delhi, August 23

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will continue questioning Dr Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar hospital, for the eighth consecutive day in connection with the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

Ghosh had resigned as the principal of the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 12 in the aftermath of the rape-murder of the 31-year-old trainee doctor.

A 31-year-old trainee doctor was brutally raped and murdered inside the college and her body was found injured and naked in a seminar hall of the institute.

However, soon after, Ghosh was reinstated as the principal of another prestigious state-run medical college.

The former RG Kar Hospital principal's transfer to the Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital was revoked amid protests over the rape and murder of a trainee docto. Ghosh has been facing the ire for alleged negligence and an attempt to cover up the incident, declaring the same as ‘suicide’, delaying informing the victim's family.
