CISF Coastal Cyclothon celebrates milestone in Chennai, receive over 1cr public interactions

The cyclothon, a first-of-its-kind endeavor covering 6,553 km of India’s coastline, arrived in Chennai on March 24th, marking a significant milestone in its journey

The city of Chennai welcomed the CISF Coastal Cyclothon 2025, a pioneering initiative that has captured the nation's attention. 

The cyclothon, a first-of-its-kind endeavor covering 6,553 km of India’s coastline, arrived in Chennai on March 24th, marking a significant milestone in its journey.

The CISF states that the impact of the Cyclothon has been immense, with direct engagement of more than 20 lakh people and more than 80 lakh engagements on social media, demonstrating its widespread reach and success in mobilizing public support.

The officials noted that this historic ride, now two-thirds complete with approximately 4,700 km covered, is more than just a physical feat; it's a powerful movement to raise awareness among local populations about the crucial importance of coastal security and community empowerment. Throughout this pioneering undertaking, CISF personnel have prioritized robust public interaction, organizing events designed to forge stronger ties between coastal communities and security agencies, ultimately creating a more effective and collaborative security network along India's coastline.

The Cyclothon's journey has been extensive and impactful. Having already journeyed through numerous villages, towns, and cities across seven States and Union Territories, the cyclists have covered significant ground. While one team has reached Karnataka on the west coast, the other made its way to Tamil Nadu on the eastern coast. 

The officials further added that the Cyclothon has garnered widespread support and enthusiasm from local populations at every stage. At each stopover, cycling teams have actively engaged with communities at various locations, including schools, colleges, hospitals, community centers, and fisherman association offices. These interactions have facilitated crucial discussions on relevant issues, clear explanations of the event's purpose and objectives, and vital appeals for community support in acting as the eyes and ears of the security forces.   

Prominent  personalities graced the event at Chennai and supported the Cyclothon team. MS Dhoni former India Cricket captain, K . Srikanth veteran India Cricket player, Shiny Wilson renowned Indian Athelete, Sahebjada Mahammed Ali, renowned Socialist and Cultural activist,. Pathirban Director and actor, Aishwarya Rajesh Tamil actress, Sunil Paliwal IAS and Narayanan.
