Delhi crime branch arested key accused in Jahangirpuri gang war incident

The Narender Gang wanted to take revenge from Lakshay (now arrested) over his role in the murder of their associate Chatur : Crime Branch

New Delhi, November 6

The Delhi Police arrested a key accused allegedly involved in a recent gang war in Jahangirpuri area in which one person was killed and two others were injured.

The gang war took place on the intervening night of October 20 and 21, when a clash erupted between a a huge group of men belonging to two rival gangs.

During the crossfire, Deepak Patrakaar, 35, a member of the Prince Gang, succumbed to gunshot injuries after he was shot four times.. Two men from the rival Narender Gang, Narender Pehelwan and Suraj, sustained stab and bullet injuries.

Two separate cross-cases were filed at the Jahangirpuri Police Station under sections 103(1), 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and sections 27, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act.

The Delhi Police stated that the rivalry between the two gangs was fuelled by a personal dispute involving Lakshay, 21, who was previously involved in another case of attempt to murder. Lakshay was arrested by the crime branch. 

During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the crime. The Narender Gang wanted to take revenge from Lakshay over his role in the murder of their associate Chatur. On the day of the incident, he along with his associates headed by Prince was at the spot when Narender and his gang members arrived and a quarrel broke out between their gangs, leading to the death of one of his associates Deepak. 

During the feud, they also attacked the rival gang members with guns and knives, injuring Narender and Suraj, crime branch further added.
