The Delhi Police Dwarka District arrested an illegal arms supplier from Bindapur when he was found to have illegal weapons in his possession.
The accused was identified as Nikhil Sharma (23) alias Navi from Chamba in Himachal Pradesh and presently living in Bindapur.
DCP Santosh Meena stated that the accused Nikhil Sharma was allegedly procuring illegal weapons from one Sarfaraz of Panipat in Haryana.
The Dwarka district police had received information that Nikhil was going to come with the consignment of the illegal arms/ammunitions for delivering to an unknown receiver. He was checked on suspicion by the police team. Two sophisticated pistols and four live cartridges were recovered from him.
The officials added that during the interrogation accused Nikhil disclosed that he is indulged in the supply of illegal arms. On the eve of New Year, he has supplied the illegal weapon in Ludhiana and other places in Punjab but some weapons which were supplied by him caught by the Punjab Police and his name and address were disclosed by the receivers of illegal weapons.
The officials added that on the instruction of Sarfaraj, he came to Delhi two months ago. He took a room in the area of Bindapur, Delhi and on the instruction of Sarfaraz again indulged in the supply of arms/ammunitions in the area of Delhi/NCR. On sustained interrogation, he also disclosed that recently he had supplied two pistols with live cartridges to one Nadeem of Gokulpuri in Delhi.
The police added that as per recovery of illegal arms, above said Nadeem Wahajuddin was arrested in the present case. During sustained interrogation he disclosed that recovered arms/ammunitions were purchased by him from Nikhil on the instruction of Sarfaraj. During investigation raids were conducted to nab the main supplier Sarfaraz but he has been evading his arrest, police added.
The police recovered four sophisticated pistols and six live cartridges .
The police are further investigating the case in connection to the chain of supply. The police are hearing up for more arrests in the case.
