Delhi Police arrests a 19-year-old labour who posed as CBI officer, duped Dwarka man over a nude video

The victim allegedly received a WhatsApp video call by a woman and after trapping the victim the accused extorted Rs. 4.84 lakhs

New Delhi, February 5

The Delhi Pollice arrested a 19-year-old labourer who posed as a CBI officer and extorted over Rs 4 lakhs from a Dwarka-based man after blackmailing him over a nude video call. 

The police identified the accused as Amit Kumar, a labourer. 

On August 8, 2024, the victim allegedly received a WhatsApp video call from a woman, during which she started removing her clothes, followed by him doing the same. The next day, the complainant received a call from a man claiming to be a CBI special officer.

The accused threatened the complainant that the woman’s family would not file a police complaint if he paid Rs 4.84 lakhs. The complainant transferred the amount into two accounts. 

The police stated that the the team tracked down Kumar to Chamba in Himachal Pradesh by following the money trail and using his call detail records.
