Delhi Police celebrates it's 77th Raising Day in grandeur

New Delhi, February 17

The Delhi Police celebrated its 77th Raising Day with a grand ceremonial parade at Kingsway camp parade ground in presence of the Delhi Police family. 

Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs took the salute as Chief Guest in the presence of Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi.

The Chief Guest Nitynand Rai took the salute and inspected the parade comprising of all women contingents of ceremonial armed police, security battalion, commandos, traffic, all women scooty patrolling squad, bicycle patrolling squad and PCR squad. 

All-Women Delhi Police Band was also an attraction of the parade. Contingents of Mounted Police and Dog Squad, NEAT, Prakhar, Prakram, SWAT, Vajra, Vikrant, Traffic exhibition vehicle, Facial Recogntion System vehicle, Nyayik Abhiraksha Vahan and Delhi Police Public Relation Office vehicle fitted with audio/video facilities were also a part of today’s grand parade. The march past was followed by exhilarating performance of nukkad natak on a theme based on drug abuse, performed by Delhi Police staff.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest Nityanand Rai congratulated the rank and file of Delhi Police and commended the dedication and sacrifice displayed by Delhi Police in ensuring the safety and security of the National Capital and further added that Delhi Police, with its exemplary professionalism, has always risen to the occasion, safeguarding the lives and interests of every citizen. The Chief Guest applauded all women officers and personnel who participated in the parade and said that all women contingent in today’s parade reaffirms Central Government’s  commitment to women empowerment.

He also congratulated the all-women marching contingent and band of Delhi Police which was adjudged the best marching contingent in Republic Day parade, this year. By providing equal opportunities for women to excel and lead within the force, the fabric of our society has been strengthened and  the cause of gender equality advanced. 

He added that he was proud to acknowledge the gallantry, distinguished service, and meritorious contributions of many officers and personnel who had been honored with prestigious awards. He appreciated Delhi Police for its relentless pursuit of excellence in smart policing, leveraging digital initiatives and technological innovation, the implementation of citizen-friendly platforms for filing reports. He also appreciated the efforts made by PFWS for the welfare of its personnel. 

MoS Home Rai further added that the pivotal role of the Delhi Police in ensuring the security and success of events of national and international significance such as G20 Summit has invigorated the confidence of citizens in the capability and professionalism of the Delhi Police.

The Chief Guest also shared  Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s, vision that, to strengthen the internal security of the nation we need to modernise our police force and MHA is providing its full support in this process. 

He also informed that under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, NFSU campuses have been set up in 9 states in India and in the next two years each state will have an NFSU campus. He also expressed his happiness that Delhi Police is following PM’s vision of smart policing.

In his welcome address,  Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi greeted all guests on the occasion of Delhi Police Raising Day and expressed his gratitude towards the Chief Guest for participating in the function.  

The CP Delhi thanked Ministry of Home Affairs for their guidance and support and recalled how Delhi Police personnel had performed duties during G 20 summit with highest professional standards. CP Delhi further mentioned that for a long term development in human resource, Delhi Police had completed recruitment process of 10,904 candidates in a record time and by year-end a large number of them will join the force after due process. He expressed his gratitude towards MHA for realizing the strengthening process of Delhi Police. 

CP Delhi further added that during DGP/IGP conference, at-length discussion was done on the new criminal laws and to adopt these laws, Delhi Police has started training process in different categories and a target has been set to train 8,800 Investigating Officers and other concerned staff till March. 

The National Law University, NCRB and BPR&D are also cooperated Delhi Police in this pursuit. CP Delhi further highlighted, that during last one year effective efforts have been made by the force to curb the street crime and the figures reflect that in 2023, there is a fall of 2.5% in heinous crime in comparison to that of 2022. CP Delhi lauded the efforts of police personnel who are discharging their duties in every kind of situation, without even caring for their lives. He highlighted the valour of more than 100 Delhi Police personnel who have sustained injuries in the line of duty during last one year. 

Nityanand Rai also presented medals to 51 police personnel for Gallantry, Distinguished Service, Meritorious Service and Union Home Minister medal for excellence in investigation. The trophies for the best police station were also given. The trophy for the best police station was bagged by PS Sultanpuri, while PS Okhla Industrial Area and PS Roop Nagar took the first and second runners up trophies. 

Rai also visited the PFWS stall, which showcased the skilful work and products made by Police families. 

Ritu Arora, President PFWS, in her interaction with Hon’ble Chief Guest, briefed him regarding the initiative taken up by PFWS by the name “SMITA” which aims at providing support to the specially-abled children of Delhi Police families with the help of various therapies including Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, and Speech therapy.

Dignitaries including former commissioners of police and several retired as well as serving senior police officers were present on the occasion.
