At a time of the surge in corona cases and medical emergencies resurfacing where Delhi Police personnel are performing tasks like arranging oxygen for hospitals on distress calls, Delhi Police has taken an initiative to facilitate ‘plasma therapy’ for needy patients by setting up a digital data bank of plasma donors.
The officials said the initiative Named “Jeevan Rakshak” is to create a digital data bank interface between Plasma Donors and needy recipients, after due authentication.
A Google form has been devised for this purpose. The persons in need of plasma will register their requests for requisition. A designated link is available on the official website of Delhi Police in the name of donate plasma - save lives.
On clicking, the viewer goes to “Jeevan Rakshak: An Initiative of Delhi Police” Google doc form showing two separate fields for Plasma Donors & Plasma Recipients. The person registering his request will choose the concerned field as such. On choosing the field “i am a plasma donor”- a form containing the details of donor such as Name, Age, Gender, Marital Status, Co-morbidities, Contacts, Location, Blood Group, Date of recovering from COVID-19, Social Media handles along with his or consent will open. The donor will have to enter the required details in all the fields and submit the form.
Similarly, for plasma seekers, on choosing the field “I am a Plasma Recipient (Patient/caretaker)”- a form containing the required fields like Name of patient, Age, Gender, Mobile number of patient, Name of caretaker, Name of hospital, Patient ID of Hospital, Location of Hospital, Blood Group, Doctor’s prescription will open. The seeker/recipient will have to enter details in all the fields and submit the form.
The officials added that all the databank of Donors and Recipients will be maintained centrally by Delhi Police. Further, a dedicated team will be deputed to check out the requests received for Plasma recipients and on availability of the suitable donor, the information about the recipient and donor will be shared among them.
This initiative will help in facilitating timely Plasma therapy for the recipients, thus saving precious lives.
The officials stated that the citizens are requested to come forward in this testing time and register themselves for donating plasma. Their contribution will prove vital in saving lives of the needy patients who need plasma therapy to survive from covid. The Google Form link is https://forms.gle/xakJzXtDzQTgFV6Z7
