Delhi Police held three of Bihar who kidnapped and murdered a trader, son of policeman

The Delhi Police foiled a abduction plan of men from Bihar who alleged kidnapped a trader, also son of Haryana policeman and demanded ransom of Rs. one crore for his release.

The police had received information regarding a dead body at Jawalpuri in Delhi.

The deceased was identified as Yogesh Satbir from Kaananhadwas of Rewari 

As per the case details, Yogesh left the house at Rewari for Delhi on November 16 and in the evening Yogesh's wife namely Anjali received a telephonic call from his mobile phone at her mobile number. The caller did not identify himself but demanded Rs. one crore as ransom to free Yogesh from their possession. He also told them to deliver the ransom money near Jama Masjid Delhi.

Yogesh's family then reached at local police station Kosli and along with HC Rakesh of Haryana Police reached Delhi in search of his son Yogesh. The caller who was demanding ransom was continuously calling for the ransom amount.

The officials added that on the night of November 16-17, at about 02:00Am they reached at Jama Masjid Delhi where the accused had told them to come to deliver the ransom money but they did not came and changed the place to Delhi Gate. When they reached at Delhi Gate, they were asked to come to Daryaganj.

The kidnappers then called then in front of ICICI Bank ATM, Daryaganj. When the two alleged persons came to collect the ransom money, one of them was caught on spot by the complainant while the other managed to escape from the spot.

The accused was identified as Tanveer Alam Taslam Alam from Kishanganj, Bihar who disclosed that he along with other person namely Mohd. Sarif have kidnapped Yogesh and murdered him by strangulation November 16.

The accused took the police and relatives of Yogesh at Jawalapuri, Camp where the dead body of victim Yogesh was recovered.

During investigation the accused Tanveer Alam disclosed that he and his co-accused Sarif hail from same Bihar. They worked at different hotels in Paharganj area but were fed up with meagre earnings and their poor living condition and were on the lookout for some opportunity to make good money to turn their fortunes. A few months back they made a plan to kidnap someone and get money in return for release to realise their dreams.

While they were on the lookout for some rich person they zeroed upon Yogesh.
The victim (now deceased) Yogesh was having a vegetable store in the name of Safal Store at Paharganj wherein he came in contact with the accused persons as they used to work in hotels in the same area.

They were on friendly terms with the victim due to them being acquaintances for quite sometime now. He disclosed that sometimes Yogesh used to tell them that he is a rich man in his village. Therefore they hatched a conspiracy to kidnap him and to get money as ransom.  After that he along with co accused Mohd. Sarif planned to kidnap the Yogesh and looked for an opportunity.

The officials added that on November 16, Yogesh called him that he is coming to Delhi tomorrow for some work. Seeing this as an opportunity, they decided to execute their plan and bought a rope, two cloth pieces to tie up Yogesh.

Yogesh called the Tanveer after reaching at Paharganj then both Tanveer and Mohd. Sarif also came at Paharganj and about 4 PM they all reached at the rented room in Jawalpuri. After reaching at the room in Jawalpuri both Tanveer and Mohd. Sarif asked Yogesh to get money (rupees 1 crore) from his family but he denied and made attempt to escape. He threatened to expose them for the misdeed.

The accused tied his hands, legs and also strangulated him. When they were assured that he is no more, they used the mobile phone of the deceased Yogesh and demanded ransom of Rs. One crore over phone by calling wife Anjali.

They initially asked Anjali to come at Jama Masjid Delhi along with ransom money but changed the places viz. Delhi Gate, Ara kasha road to avoid any risk of apprehension. At last at about 4 PM they called the party for receiving the extortion money at Dariyganj but Tanveer was caught on spot and Mohd. Sarif managed to escape.

The police found out that  accused Tanveer was in continuous touch with deceased Yogesh on his mobile phone from before the fateful day from November 1 and on November 16 had called Anjali several times for ransom.
The accused also took the room on rent with the help of one person namely Imtiaz Khan who introduced accused Mohd. Sharif to landlord. Imtiaz disclosed that Mohd. Sharif used to work as labourer at plastic factory with him at Udhyog Nagar and also resided with him.

During investigation, raids were conducted at various hotels of the Paharganj area in search of other accused Mohd. Sarif and it was revealed that there are many workers from Kishanganj Bihar who are working in the hotels. On sustained checking, brother of the accused Mohd. Sarif, namely Mohd. Saifuddin was apprehended following which Sharif was held.
