Delhi Police holds interstate meeting with state police ahead of I Day

The officers shared intelligence related to terror inputs and the anti-terror measures including border checking, verifications of suspicious elements

New Delhi, August 8

An Interstate Coordination meeting was held on at Delhi Police Headquarters to strengthen cooperation between LEAs and to address various issues related to preparation for the forthcoming Independence Day-2024 celebrations. 

Delhi CP Sanjay Arora chaired the meeting which was attended by senior officers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, J&K, along with senior officers of NIA, NCB, SIB, NATGRID and Delhi Police alongwith Spl. CsP/Technology & PI/Ops., Protective Security Division, Armed Police, L&O Divisions, Traffic Divisions, Transport Division, Intelligence Division, Crime Division, Special Cell, Joint CsP/Ranges and DCsP/Addl. DCsP/Districts, Security, Crime, IGI, Railways and Metro.

The officers shared intelligence related to terror inputs and the anti-terror measures including border checking, verifications of suspicious elements, etc.  Issues related to movement of paragliders, drones and other flying objects from the open areas were discussed. Advance information about the movement of any suspicious elements/vehicles was stressed upon. Interstate gangs operating in the NCR and incidents related to supply of illegal firearms and narcotics were also discussed. Traffic restrictions during Independence Day Celebrations and steps to check unauthorised intrusion at borders have been planned and officers of other states were requested to cooperate for ensuring the effective implementation of the same.

CP Delhi Sanjay Arora emphasized on various measures for the smooth organisation of Independence Day. A drive should be launched to trace and verify the recently released criminals. All the released criminals with a terrorist/radical background need to be closely watched and accounted for. Preventing the smuggling of firearms remains a priority area for which the ground level staff needs to be well briefed and alerted to cross check all arms dealers records to avoid pilferage. He further emphasized on quick sharing of information, so that speedy action can be taken well in time. 

He directed to check all modifying workshops if any vehicle modified in last 10 days and also to share motor vehicle theft database with neighbouring states. He emphasized checking of couriers in which non-specific addresses courier were delivered in last two months also verification of Bangladeshi criminals. He also emphasized on the meeting of ACP/SHOs level with neighbouring states for prevention of organized crimes such as drugs, financial crime and cyber-crime etc. He appreciated the cooperation extended by the neighbouring States Police and expected the same to further improve. Therefore, there is a need to be more alert towards preventing any rogue elements disturbing this national festival.
 

CP, Delhi asked all concerned to extensively utilize human intelligence for keeping watch on suspicious elements and anticipate in advance any subversive activity.

The officers present appreciated the coordination efforts of Delhi Police and resolved to have increased support for policing in the NCR region with emphasis on real time sharing of relevant information and close interaction at all levels in order to ensure a peaceful and incident free Independence Day, 2024 celebrations.
