Delhi Police North District arrested one burglar with the help of Aarogya Setu app

New Delhi, April 24

The Delhi Police North District arrested one burglar with the help of Aarogya Setu app.

The accused was identified as Mahender alias Jhai Karan Singh (20) from Burari. 

The police stated that a PCR Call was received at Burari police station regarding house theft. On reaching at the spot, the complainant Amit Kumar (41) from Burari, who works in a private company reported about the house theft in which his two mobile phones and cash. The police registered a case under Section 380 and began investigating. 

The police officials stated that the police team conducted technical investigation and checked CCTV cameras installed at nearby places but no clue was found. Thereafter, the complainant was examined in detail, who revealed that he was using “ArogyaSetu App” in his mobile phone and the GPS location of “ArogyaSetu App” was on. 

The officials added that the police used technical surveillance and located the stolen mobile phone of the complainant. On continuous searching for several hours, a suspect was seen near main 100 Foota Road, Sant Nagar in Burari. The suspect was immediately overpowered strategically by the team.

The police seized both the phones from his pocket while he was off to sell them. During interrogation, he further disclosed about his involvement in other three cases of theft. 

The accused has a historysheet of thefts and robberies. He is allegedly involved in 13 cases of burglary, house thefts and thefts registered at various police stations.
