Delhi Police personnel kills a hotel staffer while driving a car in an inebriated state near Sarojini Nagar

Constable Pardeep Kumar, posted at Rajinder Nagar police station mowed down Rajesh Gupta who was working at The Leela Palace Hotel

New Delhi, May 14

A staffer of Leela Palace Hotel in Chanakyapuri allegedly by a police vehicle in Sarojini Nagar allegedly driven by a police constable who was in inebriated state. 

The victim identified Rajesh Gupta (57) was found dead at the spot.  Gupta worked at The Leela Palace hotel in Chanakyapuri as a manpower supplier. The victim, Gupta was returning from a late-night event at the hotel at the time. 

The driver of the police vehicle was identified as constable Pardeep Kumar, posted at Rajinder Nagar police station. The vehicle was being driven at a high speed and first rammed into a divider, mowed down the deceased, and then turned turtle. Kumar was immediately arrested.

The police received information at 3.27 am at Sarojini Nagar police station regarding the accident caused by a police vehicle and that one person had been seriously injured.

DCP (Southwest) Rohit Meena stated that constable Kumar had taken the vehicle which belonged to the Rajender Nagar SHO, picked up a few friends, and were on their way to Hauz Khas. The two men he picked up were his childhood friends. He was drinking with them inside the vehicle.

The police had lodged a case under the IPC section pertaining to causing death by negligence was lodged.
