The Delhi Police Rohini District arrested a couple that made video clip of the victim and extorted money
The accused have been identified as Ravi (33 Yrs) and his wife Anju (30) of Sultanpur Dabas.
DCP (Rohini) Pranav Tayal stated that the accused worked at the NGO woman's driver and recorded a clip of her's with her colleague. He demanded Rs. five lakhs to not upload the purported clip on social media.
The Rohini District police had received a complaint on March 17 by Rohini based NGO that one Ravi working as driver with her had recorded her some video clips while she was sitting in a car with her colleague. The alleged sent the said clips on her mobile phone and demanded money in lieu of deleting the same. He threatened that if an amount of Rs. 80,000/- is not given to him he will upload the clips on social media. She discussed it with her male colleague and gave Rs. 80,000/- to the accused for deleting the said video clips.
The police further said that the accused deleted the said clips in their presence but later he again made a call to her and told that his wife is inclined to share the said videos on social media platforms. His wife also threatened the complainant on phone and also demanded Rs. five lakhs for not uploading the clips on social media. The whole conversation was got recorded by the complainant in her mobile phone.
The Rohini police sprung to action and raided the native place of the accused at Sultanpur Dabas wherein both accused persons namely Ravi and his wife (Anju) were found present. The police also seized their mobile phones having the alleged videos clips and Rs. 31,000/-cash out of extorted amount of Rs. 80,000/- from their possession.
The police added that Ravi is working as a driver in the NGO run by the complainant for the last three years. His bike was reportedly stolen and he was in need of money to purchase a new bike which reportedly made him hatch the plan to extort money from his emoloyer. His wife Anju reportedly partnered in the crime claiming poverty and in dire need of money.
