Delhi Police Shahdara District arrested fraudster who cheated for supply of medicine on black fungus infection

New Delhi, May 23

Delhi Police Shahdara District arrested a cheat who made false promise to provide Liposomal Amphotericin B required for treatment of Black fungus infection. 

The police identified him as Prasant Kumar Sharma from Shalimar Garden in Ghaziabad, UP. He is an intermediate and is working as part time driver.

The police stated that a PCR complaint was made by Vinit Jain from Shivaji Park that his brother-in-law Ishant Jain is admitted at Sir Gangaram Hospital New Delhi for treatment of “ Black Fungas.”  The doctor has prescribed him a medicine namely Lipsomal Amphoperecin-B. This medicine was not available in the market. Hence she contacted a number that claimed supply of particular medicine.  On contacting, the accussed assured that he would provide them the prescribed medicine and demanded Rs 3000/-. The money was transferred on his Paytm account. However, neither he provided them required medicine, nor did he return his money back. The complaint realized that he was cheated and he informed the police. 

During investigation subscription detail of mobile number was collected, screen shots of transaction paid by the sister of caller were collected and local intelligence was developed to trace the accused. 

The police stated that Prasant Kumar Sharma confessed that he committed this crime and he is intermediate and is working as part time driver. As there was no source of livelihood during this pandemic so he started cheating with this modus operandi. On further interogation, itz been revealed that the Accussed also posted his contact number in Facebook for Plasma donation. 

The police are further investigating the case to find other victim's and ascertain the total cheated amount.
