Delhi Police SI killed by a speeding car in Central Delhi

New Delhi, January 14

A sub-inspector was killed on duty after being hit by a car in Daryaganj of Central Delhi. 

The deceased was identified as Latoor Singh (57) was posted at Chandni Mahal police station. Singh was going to retire from service on January 31 this year,

The police stated that the incident took place on January 13 night when Singh was on duty on the ring road between Rajghat and Shantivan traffic signal. A Hyundai car hit him and left him severely injured.

The police rushed to the spot and got Singh hospitalised however he succumbed to his injuries. 

The police identified the accused as Shokendra (34), a resident of Sonipat in Haryana and a banker,  who was driving the Hyundai car. 

The police have booked the accused under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code has been lodged and the vehicle has been taken into custody.

Singh is survived by his wife and two children. His family lives in Northeast Delhi’s Dayalpur.
