Delhi Police South East District took up action against Covid protocol violators

New Delhi, April 4

With the spike in Covid 19 cases recently, the Delhi Police South East District began taking strong action and sensitization citizens on the Covid protocols. The police issued challans to several for violating the norms. 

DCP (South East) RP Meena stated that on April 3, a special drive was initiated which resulted into registration of 10 FIRs under relevant sections and 330 challans for not wearing mask, violating social distancing rule and spitting on the common passageway. 

The police added that various restaurants, bars, banquet halls, guest houses and markets were under strict vigilance to curb the effect of this pandemic. Various night clubs namely M House Club and Bar, Roar Night Club at Eros Hotel Nehru Place were challaned for social distancing violation and serving hookahs. 

The police further said that two cases under COTPA act and section 3, Epidemic Act are registered against them at Kalkaji police.  Information is also passed to MCD and Excise department for the cancellation of their licenses, officials added. 

One case was registered against Boken Cafe at PS Amar Colony. Moreover, 20 persons were challaned without mask at Okhla mandi. Many restaurants like Brijwasi, Al Nawaz, Al Jawahar, Zehra Al Noor and Al Bake were challaned for violation of COVID norms and prosecuted u/s 3 of Epidemic Act in the New Friends colony sub division.

The officials stated that strict action was initiated that resulted into 224 challans for not wearing mask and six challans for spitting on the public passage. The prosecution drive was followed with a masks and sanitizer distribution drive by the police officials to boost up the morale of public to fight against COVID-19.
