Delhi police special cell held five in double murder at Hindu Rao

New Delhi, July 12

A brief encounter took place between criminals and Delhi Police Special Cell leading to the arrest of the accused in double murder case in Bara Hindu Rao area of the national capital.

The accused were identified as Mohd. Danish who is the mastermind of the conspiracy, a resident kf Bara Hindu Rao, Delhi, Soiab Siddique from Seemapuri, Sarafat Ali from Noor-A- Elaine, Sonu from Gandhi Nagar, Delhi and Satender Kumar Delhi from Shahdara.

DCP (Special Cell) Sanjeev Yadav stated that all the accused sustained bullet injuries in their leg while attempting to run away after firing at police team. The police team had a narrow escape as bullets fired by the criminals hit the bullet proof Jacket of Inspector Puran Pant and head constable  Sonu but both were saved as they were wearing bullet proof jackets and one bullet fired by the criminals hit the right shoulder of one Sub Inspector, thereby injuring him. 

The agency seized five semi-automatic pistols along with nine live and 10 fired cartridges, a Honda City Car No. DL 10 CQ-1347 and a Santro Car No. DL 7 CR-4627 from their possession.

According to the case details, on July 8, about 9.15 P.M. some assailants indiscriminately fired upon one Naeem Ahmed from Peer Baba Hindu Rao, his niece Mohd. Munib and their guard Prakash Yadav on a crowded and running road with the densely populated area, which resulted in the killing of two persons in the crowd. In this regard, a FIR was registered under sections 302, 307, 34 IPC and 25/27 Arms Act Bara Hindu Rao police station. This incident had occurred in broad public view and at a crowded place. It had caused high public unrest as the perpetrators had openly challenged the law of land.

Following the local enquiries and technical analysis, the identity of the criminals involved in the incident was ascertained and information with respect to their movements was regularly being gathered by way of manual sources, technical surveillance and ground work. The team watched number of their suspected hideouts in Delhi NCR and UP West. The team traced their movements from UP Border to Delhi but the criminals narrowly slipped away from the clutches of the team.

The accused were out to eliminate their target who escaped their deadly attack of July 8. The special cell laid a trap at Wazirabad where the accused were found coming from Signature Bridge side. They were stopped at a lonely stretch at the roadside about 200 meters away from Shamshan Ghat, which was having dense bushes and trees on three sides.

The officials added that the accused whipped out their weapons and fired more than 20 rounds aiming towards the police team and tried to flee from the spot. In self-defense, police team also fired 14 rounds displaying restraint and aiming at lower body part so as to prevent the criminals from escaping. The criminals kept on firing to make their way to escape the police dragnet. In cross firing, all the five accused persons sustained bullet injuries in their legs and they all were overpowered after a brief scuffle and all were then successfully apprehended. All the injured were immediately rushed to hospital for treatment.

According to the special cell,  Danish and Firoz had grudge with Munib for some property disputes, and to settle their personal scores with their rivals they had approached Sohail and others for going to Bara Hindu Rao, Delhi to eliminate their target. They and their other associates armed with weapons reached at Bara Hindu Rao area, near DCM Chowk in a preplanned manner to eliminate Munib. One of their accomplices Rahul was asked to see whether the target is present at the Hospital building. He was also assigned to stop the car after confirming his presence.

As the target moved by car, Rahul blocked car at DCM Chowk, where target and passerby surrounded him (Rahul) and they started thrashing him. On this, his accomplices rushed to rescue him and used firearms as per their plan to target Munib. After firing several rounds, they all fled away from the spot, officials added.

The agency is further probing the case.
