A dreaded jailed gangster Aman Singh was shot dead by an inmate in the Dhanbad jail of Jharkhand. Aman Singh who was involvd in multiple dacoity and robbery cases had also allegedly murdered deputy mayor of Dhanbad in 2017.
The police stated that the accused inmate has been identified and taken into custody for interrogaiton in this case. The authorities refused to disclose the name of the inmate due to security reasons.
Former Deputy Mayor Neeraj Singh was shot dead on March 21, 2017 and his wife Purnima Singh is currently the MLA from Jharia in Dhanbad.
After the murder of Singh, the jail inmates got into a scuffle with each other. The situation was brought under control after a while.
The prison department had formed a committee to investigate as to how the gun reached the jail premises.
A separate magisterial inquiry will also be conducted, officials added.
