Executive Director of Chandigarh's Elante Mall held for sexual harassment, assault and stalking former employee

New Delhi, April 6

The Chandigarh Police arrested Executive Director of Elante Mall for sexual assault, molestation, stalking and criminal intimidation. 

A 45-year-old woman had lodged an FIR against Anil Malhotra, Executive Director of the Elante Mall. 

According to the police, Malhotra was allegedly harassing the woman and was known to her since 2005. She has worked with the accused in past. 

The police are now trying to recover his cell phones, laptops and other electronic gadgets which were used for harassing the woman. 

The complainant also recorded her statement under Section 164 of the CrPC before a magistrate.

Malhotra was also named in the FIR registered for forcibly taking the possession of a food court, Ayaan, which was rented to one Puneet Gupta of Sector 18, inside the Elante Mall three days ago. That FIR was registered under bailable offences, including wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation.

Malhotra was remanded in three-day police custody in connection with the sexual assault case. 

However, this is not the first time a complaint of sexual harassment was registered against him. The police added earlier also a woman had filed a complaint where he was booked under sections 354, 354D and 506 of the IPC. 

The police are now extracting details from his gadgets that were used to harass the complainant despite her strong objection.
