New Delhi, July 15

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) probing the attack of former US Prez Donald Trump has called the attack as “domestic terrorism”.

The FBI said counter terrorism and criminal investigation agencies are working together to determine the motive behind the attack on Trump who escaped the attack but got his right ear injured.

The shooter was identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks (20) who fired eight rounds of bullets at Trump while he was addressing an election rally in Pennsylvania. The shooter was shot dead by snipers, and the FBI is yet to identify the motive behind the attack.

As reported in US media, the initial probe found that the gun - an AR-style 556 rifle - had been legally bought and the FBI believes that it had been purchased by the suspect's father. The officials said "a suspicious device" was also found in the suspect's vehicle, which was inspected by bomb technicians and rendered safe.  The gunman who acted alone and prima facie doesn't appear to be a part of any organization.

The US Secret Service, which is in charge of protecting US political leaders, came under severe scrutiny after the attack.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden addressed the nation on the shooting incident, rejecting any kind of violence. He urged the citizens to take responsibility to cool down the political heat in the country ahead of the November 2024 presidential elections.
