Four personnel of Delhi Police suspended or receiving bribe of Rs. 2 lakhs in Dwarka distrct

New Delhi, April 12

Four police personnel, including two sub inspectors and two head constable-rank officers were booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a man after promising to get a case “resolved” in June 2023.

All the four personnel are posted in with the Mohan Garden Police Station in Dwarka district. 

In an FIR, a fish vendor and a resident of Sunder Nagri stated that one of his relatives was involved in a harassment case lodged at the police station. Sub Inspector Priyanka Saini, Sub-Inspector Sunil Dutt, Head Constable Anil Kumar along with another policeman asked him to hand over Rs 2 lakh to Saini to get the name of the accused removed.

The complainant further statedhe was asked to "settle" the matter and the SHO demanded Rs 2 lakh. He even withdrew money and paid to Saini after which she promised him to send an agreement signed with the opposing party in the case.

The Delhi police has also begun an internal enquiry against the four personnel after suspending them.
