Gangster Mukhtar Ansari Death- No poison found in viscera report : UP Police

Mukhtar Ansari, a five-time MLA who was in jail since 2005, died of a heart attack on March 28.

The Uttar Pradesh Police probing gangster Mukhtar Ansari's death stated that no poison was found in the his body citing the viscera report.

Mukhtar Ansari, a five-time MLA who was in jail since 2005, died of a heart attack on March 28. His body was sent for post-mortem which was conducted by doctors at the Banda Medical College. the auropsy report had concluded in the autopsy report that the cause of death was “heart attack/myocardial infarction”. 

Ansari's family had cried foul and claimed that he was allegedly being given slow poison. In a letter to the Banda District Magistrate seeking autopsy by an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) panel, Mukhtar’s Umar Ansari had claimed that his father was a victim of “an orchestrated plan”. He stated that the courts in Barabanki and Banda districts were apprised through lawyers that his father was being administered slow poison in his food.

The doctors had then preserved the viscera for further examination. The viscera was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination. 

The government had also ordered for a judicial and magisterial inquiries into his death which are still going on. The inquiry officials have recorded statements from the jail staff in Banda and footage from CCTV cameras installed in the prison has been collected for examination. The prisons department has also sealed the baraack where Ansari was lodged. 

A seasoned gangster of UP, Maukhtar Ansari was convicted in right cases and was lodged in prison since 2005 following his surrender in a communal riots case in Mau.
