Goa Police arested a senior citizen from Delhi for abandoning a 20-day-old baby

New Delhi, July 23

A senior citizen from Delhi allegedly abandoning a 20-day-old baby girl in in North Goa's Nerul who was allegedly born from a relationship out of marriage.

The police said, the accused is a retired employee of a public sector company, flew down from Delhi to Goa with his wife, their daughter, his sister-in-law and the infant. 

The family owns a flat in Candolim in North Goa where they landed in and allegedly abandoned the infant outside another house.

The baby was reportedly found abandoned outside a house in Nerul, about two kilometers from Candolim, after which the owner of the house informed police.

The police zeroed in on him after scanning many CCTV footage.

The police have booked him under section 317 (exposure and abandonment of child under 12 years by parent or person having care of it) and section 8 (child abuse and trafficking) of the Goa Children’s Act at the Porvorim police station.
