Kolkata police issues guidelines on women safety after rape-murder of trainee doctor

The police will first identify areas prone to crimes against women and adequate measures will be adopted to ensure their safety by increasing frequent police patrolling across the city

New Delhi, August 12

Following the tragic incident of rape-murder of a trainee doctor of RG Kar hospital the Kolkata police have issued an alert order for women's safety in the city. 

The police will first identify areas prone to crimes against women and adequate measures will be adopted to ensure their safety by increasing frequent police patrolling across the city.

As per their guidelines, the CCTV cameras will be installed in public places wherever possible and a CCTV cell will be set up in order to take immediate action against crime.

The city police would further review the security system at government hospitals, homes, and women's hostels. .

All officers in-charge have been asked to brief their respective subordinates on women's safety. They must also be told how to behave in public. And how to talk to women and elderly people.

There is also a need to interact more with staff of government hospitals, including doctors, nurses and others, to let them know that the police are always available to help them.

The police are reviewing the security at medical colleges/ government hospitals across the city.
