Delhi Police New Delhi District inaugurated 'Police Sakhi' for women citizens

New Delhi, March 9

The Delhi Police New Delhi District inaugurated a special initiative 'Police Sakhi' among various programs for women on the occasion of International Women’s Day. 

Jt CP (New Delhi Range) AK Singh graced the occasion of inauguration of a women oriented initiative by the district police by the name of ‘POLICE SAKHI’- an initiative is the brain child of DCP New Delhi District, Amrutha Guguloth.

This has been started with women officials to place confidence in the minds of female of all age groups of the area and those who visit the district. The teams comprising of all women staff on nine pink color scooties will patrol the area of the district. This has been done to reach all areas of the district where other police vehicles are not able to reach. With this initiative, the district police will be able to reach every doorstep for solving problems of the women, children. 

This has been done with a view to increase accessibility of women and children to the police lady officers, know their problems and try to sort out any issues.   The color given to the scooties and the helmets of its rider and pillion are all pink. The catchy color makes the project/initiative easy to identify in the crowd and makes the Police Sakhi easily accessible for help of any kind. The district aims to further increase the fleet size in near future.

The police also distributed Iron and Calcium supplements to women staff of the District by Advance Health Care Foundation at DCP office complex, Parliament Street, New Delhi. 

An essay writing competition was held in different schools situated in New Delhi District. The winners were felicitated with a memento along with cash prize of Rs. 2000/-, Rs. 1500/- and Rs. 1000/- to 1st Prize, 2nd Prize and 3rd Prize winners, respectively.  The police officials also interacted with the winners in order to boost their morale.
