Man shot dead outside Punjabi University in Patiala

New Delhi, April 7

A man was shot dead in front of Punjabi University Patiala of Punjab. 

The deceased was identified as Dharamvir Singh, a resident of Daun Kalan village. 

The police said that the preliminary investigation shows that there was an old rivalry between the deceased and his assailants.

The accused has been identified as Harvir Singh, a resident of same village. Harvir and his aides Tajinder, Bonny and Harman have been booked by the police. 

With contradicting reports that Dharamvir was a Kabbadi player and chief of village sports club, the police refuted it. 

Patiala police told media that Dharamvir was not a Kabaddi player and the incident has no relevance to Kabaddi. 

The police stated that the deceased and accused were harbouring enmity and there was rivalry since many years since their college days.
