Meerut Murder- Muskaan tried to first drug her husband but failed, bought anti anxiety medicines

New Delhi, March 24
The Meerut murder case accused Muskan Rastogi who killed her husband and cemented his body in drum has been plotting the murder since months from buying the drum to getting psychiatric drugs on forged prescriptions.
Muskan (27) was married to Saurabh Rajput, a former merchant navy officer only to be able to live with her boyfriend. The woman killed her husband with the help of her boyfriend, Sahil Shukla. The case has been sending shock waves in the country.
Saurabh’s head was severed from the body, both hands were cut off at the wrists, and his legs were bent backwards, suggesting an attempt to fit the body inside the drum and cement it.
Muskan earlier tried to give him drugs especially on his birthday however Saurabh refused to drink on that day hence her plan has failed. The police found out that she claimed to have anxiety issues and received a prescription for anxiety medication. She later researched the prescribed drugs on Google and obtained a blank prescription and wrote down the names of the medicines.
The drug officials raided a medical store in Meerut and confirmed that Muskan had purchased three types of medicines, including antidepressants and sleeping pills. The medical store documents showed that she purchased medicine on March 1.
Following the murder, Muskan and Sahil travelled to Kasol in Himachal Pradesh, on March 10 and checked into a hotel, posing as husband and wife. Visuals have also surfaced showing the couple partying in Kasol after committing the crime.
The murder came to light when the matter was reported to the police on March 18, leading to the arrest of Muskan and Sahil.
The victim had recently returned to Meerut from London, where he was working in a bakery. Saurabh, who married Muskan Rastogi in 2016 after a love marriage, was living with her and their five-year-old daughter in a rented house for the past three years. According to the police, Saurabh was last seen on March 4, the day he was allegedly murdered.
Investigations revealed that Muskan and Sahil were in a secret relationship. Their landlord had caught them in a compromising position in 2021, after which Saurabh learned about their affair. The duo primarily used Snapchat for communication and deleted chats before the crime. Their mobile phones, along with Saurabh’s, have been sent for forensic analysis.
