New Delhi, March 13
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) appointed iPS officer Surendra Singh Yadav as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Chandigarh Police.
Thr MHA revoked its earlier order of February 9 that appointed 1995-batch Madhup Kumar Tiwari as the DGP.
The order stares, “In modification of MHA’s order of the same number dated February 9, Surendra Singh Yadav is hereby transferred from Delhi and posted as DGP, Chandigarh. Additionally, the transfer/ posting of Madhup Kumar Tiwari is hereby cancelled with immediate effect and until further orders".
The MHA also revoked the February 9 orders, according to which Yadav was posted as DGP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
On February 9, MHA had transferred Praveer Ranjan, a 1993-batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer, to the position of Additional Director General in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The same order had appointed Surendra Yadav as DGP of Andaman and Nicobar while Madhup Kumar Tewari was going to take over as DGP Chandigarh. At present, Devesh Chandra Shrivastav is the DGP pf Andaman and Nicobar while Madhup Kumar Tewari is Special CP (Law and Order) -II in Delhi Police.
The 1997-batch IPS officer Yadav will replace the incumbent 1993-batch AGMUT cadre IPS DGP (UT) Praveer Ranjan.
Ranjan had suffered injuries along with his wife and chandigarh police official during wedding ceremony of a personnel's daughter. He is yet to be relieved from Chandigarh.
Yadav is stationed in Delhi as Special CP Traffic (Zone-2) with an additional charge of MD, Delhi Police Housing Corporation (DPHC) Ltd.
A native of Rajasthan, Yadav has served in various capacities in the Delhi Police and is recognised for several initiatives for the welfare of police officers.
