NIA files chargesheet against 19 CPI (Maoist) terrorists and OGWs in the case of Jharkhand's Lanji forest IED blast

New Delhi, September 7

The NIA filed a chargesheet in Lanji forest IED blast case in the NIA Special Court at  Ranchi against 19 persons.

Four were identified as Ramrai Hasda from West Singhbhum, Nelson Kandir from Seraikela-Kharsawan, Sorto Mahli from Harjora and Mangal Munda from Ranchi were held while and 15 are absconding.

All the 19 have been chargsheeted under sections 120B, 121,121(A), 302, 307, 333 & 353 of IPC, Sections 3 & 4 of Explosive Substance Act and Section 16, 17, 18, 20, 38, 39 & 40 of UA(P) Act, 1967.

The case pertains to an IED blast which took place in March at 8:30 am in the Lanji forest hill area resulting in the death of three personnel of Jharkhand Jaguar (STF) and grievous injuries to others. The case was originally registered at West Singhbhum police station and NIA had reregistered case  and taken over the investigation. 

The NIA investigation has established that arrested accused Ramrai Hasda, was a close associate (OGW) of the senior CPI (Maoist) leadership operating in that area. On the directions of the top Commanders of CPI(Maoist), who are the absconding accused in this charge sheet, accused Ramrai Hasda along with other accused  Nelson Kandir, Sorto Mahali and Mangal Munda had conducted recce and finalized the location for the deadly attack. 

Anal Da alias Patiram Manjhi, Maharaj Pramanik, Aptan Manjhi, Champa, Bhuneshwar, Merina Sirka, Rila Mala, Suraj Sardar, Sunita, Sarita, Gita, Mangal Munda and Amit Munda are the armed cadres and top commanders of CPI(Maoist) who all had conspired and carried out the IED blast in Lanji Forest Hill area at the identified location along with aforementioned arrested accused persons. 

The absconding accused Suli Kandir and Sawan Tuti, are the over ground workers,  who had raised funds and  provided logistics support to the Maoists  and  were the part of the conspiracy for the executing the IED blast, officials added.

The NIA is further investigating the case.
