NIA files chargesheet against 20 CPI (Maoist) cadres in Edakkara Maoist Case

The NIA filed charge-sheet against 20 CPI (Maoist) cadres in Edakkara Maoist Case of Kerala.
The NIA has chargesheeted accused Kalidas from Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, Sreemathi B.P from Chikamangaluru, Karnataka, Savithri also from Chickamangaluru, Karnataka, S Danish from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Vikram Gowda from Uduppi, Karnataka, Soman from Kalpatta, Wayanad, Sharmila from Bijapur District, Chhattisgarh, R Ragavendran from Vellore, Tamil Nadu, A Santhosh Kumar Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, P Thiruvengadam Thiruvannamalai Tamil Nadu, B G Krishnamurthy from Chickamangalur District, Karnatak, Rajan C G from Thrissur, Deepakfrom Bijapur, Chattisgarrh, Dinesh D H from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Karthik from Pannaipuram, Theni District, Tamil Nadu, Ramesh from Rajendra Nagar, Koramangala, TK Rajeevan from Kannur, Ramesh Kanippettai District, Tamil Nadu, IIyyappan from Thammanickenpatti, Virudhunagar Taluk and District, Tamil Nadu, Annesh Babu from Thirunelveli, Tamil Nadu under various sections of IPC, Arms Act and UA(P) Act
The case relates to conspiracy for conducting physical and arms training, conducting Zonal Committee meeting of Western Ghats Special Zonal Committee of the proscribed organisation CPI (Maoist) in the Nilambur forest in Malappuram district, Kerala in 2016 in order to strengthen the proscribed terrorist organisation CPI (Maoist) with intention to commit terrorist acts and waging war against the Government of India.
The case was initially registered in Edakkara Police Station in Kerala and later taken over by ATS Kerala. The NIA had re-registered the case subsequently.
According to the NA, investigation conducted by NIA established that the accused in the case were members of the proscribed terrorist organisation CPI (Maoist) had trespassed into the reserve forests of Nilambur in Malappuram, Kerala, conspired for conducting training camps, organised meetings of the Zonal Committee of the banned terror outfit.
They also observed Commemoration Week and celebrated the formation day of CPI (Maoist), collected men and arms, conducted and participated in the arms and physical training by using prohibited arms in order to carry out terrorist acts for furthering the activities of CPI (Maoist).
The NIA is further probing the case.
