Porter rapes a woman inside a train at Bandra terminus, held

The woman was sleeping inside an empty train

New Delhi, February 3

The railway police in Bandra arrested a porter for allegedly sexually assaulting a 55-year-old woman who had come to the city from Haridwar in a train.

The police stated that the incident took place inside the train at Bandra Terminus.

The woman came to the city from another state with a male relative. The relative went for some work and after the other commuters in the train left, the woman slept on the platform for a bit and then entered an empty train compartment. A porter who was present on the platform took advantage of the fact that the woman was alone and forced himself on her.

The relative then reached out to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) and informed them about the incident. The police personnel then managed to track down the porter based on the footage from the CCTV cameras on the station and placed him under arrest.

The authorities have also initiated an inquiry on why no police Or security personnel was present at the spot.
