Pune-Daund train catches fire in one of the coaches, no casaulties

New Delhi, June 16
A fire broke out in a shuttle Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) train en route from Pune to Maharashtra's Daund. The blaze originated in the train's toilet due to a short circuit.
The authorities sated that a person was trapped inside the toilet as the door had got locked and wouldn’t open. Hearing his screams and seeing smoke coming out, a few alert passengers broke open the toilet door and rescued the person, saving his life just in time.
Earlier this year, a fire erupted in the AC coach of an empty passenger train parked in the yard of Durg Railway Station in Chhattisgarh. No casualties were reported due to the incident.
Officials from the railway station and the fire department rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control within 30 minutes. A total of three fire engines were deployed to extinguish the flames.
