Pune drug cartel bust- Delhi Police and Pune Police seize over 900kgs of mephedrone from South Delhi

New Delhi, February 22

The Delhi Police seized 900 kg of the mephedrone drug from a rented room and a shop in South Delhi and arrested two people. The seizure was made in connection with the Pune drug cartel bust where 1,700 kg of Meow Meow worth Rs. 3,000 crore was seized. 

The Pune police Crime Branch had requested a joint raid in connection with a case lodged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Pune where three accused were arrested after the recovery of mephedrone.

DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan states that a team of Pune police conducted a raid at Kotla Mubarakpur and recovered around 300 kg of mephedrone and two people were nabbed from there and around 600 kg of mephedrone was recovered from the rented shop in Masjid Moth in Hauz Khas.

The room and the shop were recently taken on rent and a total of 900 kg of drugs was recovered, he added. 

The officials stated that the drug was filled inside plastic containers at the premises which was mainly used as a storage area and was brought there in trucks. One of the accused was nabbed while he was taking a consignment in one of the trucks,. 

This is the biggest-ever drug bust of Pune police and one of the biggest ever in India in a single action. 

As per the case tails of Pune bust, three persons were arrested including a salt trader in and 1.75 kg of mephedrone worth Rs 3.5 crore was seized from them. After the arrest of the trio, two godowns in Vishrantwadi were raided and over 50 kg of mephedrone was recovered from those facilities. 

The Pune crime branch later received information that the drugs were being synthesised in a chemical factory in Kurkumbh. In the raid conducted at this plant, over 650 kg of mephedrone was seized along with large quantities of the raw material used for mephedrone synthesis. 

In October and November last year, the Pune police and alongwith Mumbai and Nashik police had unearthed a widespread mephedrone manufacturing cartel operated by drug kingpin Lalit Patil. In a raid conducted at a chemical factory in Shinde Gaon in Nashik, the Mumbai police had seized over 150 kg of mephedrone worth Rs 300 crore.
