Punjab Police neutralize key accused recently arrested in grenade attack case

Hours before the encounter busted Pakistan’s ISI-backed BKI terror module and arrested operatives- Mohit of Buddhe di Khui in Batala and Vishal Bhatti of Basarpura in Batala

New Delhi, February 28

The Punjab Police neutralized a key accused involved in two recent grenade attacks in an exchange of fire in Batala. He was arrested hours before the encounter alongwith his accomplice. 

The Punjab police had busted Pakistan’s ISI-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module with the arrest of its two operatives identified as Mohit of Buddhe di Khui in Batala and Vishal Bhatti of Basarpura in Batala. 

DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav told media that the module was operated by Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Rinda and USA-based terrorist Happy Passia. Thr arrest had solved the cases pertaining to explosive substances that were were hurled at the residence of a late former chairman of Amritsar Zila Parishad in Jaintipur on January 15 and near the residence of a policeman’s relative on February 17 in Batala.

The police stated that Mohit was identified as the key perpetrator who carried out the both grenade attacks. He had concealed arms and ammunition at an isolated place, he was being taken for their recovery.

During the weapon recovery, Mohit opened fire on the police team, prompting them to retaliate. In the exchange of fire, Mohit was shot, police added. 

He was later admitted to Civil Hospital, Batala, for treatment, where he was declared brought dead on arrival. 

The police recovered .30 bore pistol, used by Mohit to fire at the police party, he added.
