Shahdara police attack- Police book attacker for attempt to murder while family claims mental instability

New Delhi, June 24
The man who allegedly stabbed five policemen in cyber police station of Shahdara district of Delhi Police is reportedly mentally unstable. The Delhi Police have booked him for attempt to murder.
The attacker was identified as Bharat Bhati (28) whose family reported him to be mentally unstable.
The police said during questioning, the accused, Bharat Bhati, revealed he had some grievances however he refused to share with the police.
On the day of the incident, he went to meet a duty officer to complain about his internet service provider but found someone else sitting with the officer and got upset.
He reportedly started making a video that police don't help people. When he was stopped by a constable, he got angry and began stabbing policemen.
Bhati allegedly stabbed two policemen on the third floor and four more personnel on the stairs and the ground floor
The police added that after stabbing policemen, he allegedly put a knife to his throat and threatened to kill himself. He had also hit his head against the wall.
According to the police, his family informed that he has been depressed and unstable since his father’s death last month.
The police said the accused has been normal and there are no medical documents with the family on his mental condition.
The police have booked the accused under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 183 (resistance to the taking of property by the lawful authority of a public servant), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 353 (assault to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 309 (attempt to commit suicide).
