Six Bangladeshis disguised as transgenders held in Northwest Delhi

New Delhi, March 31
The Delhi Police’s Foreigners Cell of the North-West District apprehended six illegal Bangladeshi nationals from Jahangirpuri who had disguised themselves as transgenders.
The police stated that the individuals were found using the banned IMO app to communicate with their families in Bangladesh. The police recovered six mobile phones installed with the banned IMO app.
The police stated that the IMO app is used for cross-border communication. The app is similar to any messaging app and facilitates international calls and texts free of cost.
Speaking about the operation, the officials said that they received a tip-off that people were engaging in begging at traffic signals while living under assumed identities. Following 10 days of manual and technical surveillance, police received information about six suspects near Jahangirpuri Metro Station.
The accused revealed that they had entered India illegally through porous borders with the help of agents and travelled to Delhi by a train. To avoid detection, they allegedly underwent minor surgeries and hormonal treatments.
All the six individuals have been handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), RK Puram, for deportation proceedings, officials further added.
