SP leader found dead in his house at Shahjahanpur of UP

New Delhi, January 25

A Samajwadi Party leader (SP) was found dead with injuries on his head at his home in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

The victim Sartaz Khan was alone at his residence in Meeranpur area, when the incident occurred while his wife was at her relative's house, police said. Khan ran a medical store in the area and unit head of SP. 

As per his wife Reshma's statement to the police, when she returned, she found the house locked from inside and no one opened it despite several knocks. Later, with the help of locals, she broke the door open and found Sartaz’s body.

The police ruled out robbery as nothing was reported missing from the house. This had led to suspicion that he was attacked by known persons and the motive was not robbery. The assialants are yet unidentified. 

The police are scanning CCTVs installed around the area to identify who entered his home.
