Sultanpuri accident- Girl was not sexually assaulted, was accompanied by a female friend during accident

New Delhi, January 3
The Delhi Police while probing the Sultanpuri accident case have received autopsy report that ruled out occurence of sexual assault with the victim.
The 20-year-old woman was killed in Delhi after her scooter was hit by a car, and she was dragged by the vehicle for almost 4 km from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala in the early hours of January 1.
The police said the woman, Anjali Singh, was an event organiser and returning from work at the time.
According to the police, there were five men in the car, who have been arrested. Following the incident, the accused allegedly removed the woman’s body from under the vehicle and fled the spot.
The five men have been identified as Deepak Khanna (26), who drives a Gramin Sewa auto; Amit Khanna (25), who works for a nationalised bank in Uttam Nagar; Krishan (27), who worked at the Spanish Culture Centre in Connaught Place; Mithun (26), a hairdresser at a salon; and, Manoj Mittal (27), a ration dealer in Sultanpuri.
During the questioning,the accused informed police that they had planned to go to Murthal but returned after the place was crowded. They further informed that while taking a turn their car met with an accident and confessed that they were aware the girl on the scooty was hit but they claimed that they left the spot thinking that she got up and it was a minor accident. However, a few meters away they felt something dragging alongwith the wheel after which they stopped by to remove the body and fled.
They have been booked for rash driving and causing death by negligence.
The police investigation also shows that the girl was accompanied by another female from her office who were riding the pillion. Her companion sustained minor injuries and fled from the spot after the accident. The police have traced her and recorded her statement and added that the girl didn't inform police about the incident allegedly out of fear.
