Teenage girl in Gurugram died by suicide following alleged harassment, stalking by a youth

A teenage girl allegedly committed suicide in Gurugram reportedly after a youngster harassed her and pressured her for marriage.
The accused had threatened to kidnap the 17-year-old girl.
The girl ended her life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house in Gurugram's Pataudi area, police said.
The Gurugram police said that the deceased girl had recently completed Class 12. Her father stated that the youth, identified as Rohit, used to harass his 17-year-old daughter, whenever she stepped out of the house.
He was allegedly pressuring her to elope with him. He had threatened to ruin her reputation for not reciprocating his romantic feelings, officials added.
The girl later narrated her ordeal to her father. Following this, her father confronted the accused on a phone call. The youth, however, did not mend his ways. Later, his mother was informed about the matter.
The family made calls to Rohit's mother requesting her to counsel her son however he didn't stop. His continuous stalking and harassment allegedly led to the girl taking an extreme step. However, the police did not find any suicide note.
The police have booked the accused for abetment to suicide under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
