Two girls from a govt school in North East Delhi asked to undress in the class, DCW sends notice to Delhi Police

New Delhi, May 5

In a shocking incident that came to the fore from a school in North East Delhi, two girls were allegedly forcibly undressed by an unknown man inside the classroom of a government school in Delhi. 

The police said the an unknown man entered the school and asked two girls to undress themselves in the name of checking while there was no class teacher present at the spot.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has sent notices to the Delhi Police and East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) Commissioner demanding action against the accused and also the school authorities. 

According to the DCW, the accused allegedly entered the classroom when the children got back from their morning assembly, sexually assaulted the girls before undressing himself and urinating in front of the class. The alleged incident took place on April 30.

In their statement, DCW also mentioned, “The students informed the principal and class teacher about the incident but they were asked to keep quiet and forget about the incident”.  

“He removed the clothes of a girl and muttered obscenities at her. Then he walked over to another girl and removed her clothes and his clothes as well. Thereafter, the accused closed the door of the classroom and urinated in front of the students… This is a serious matter and warrants immediate action”.

According to the police, no CCTVs were found installed at the entrance or inside. The police are scanning footage from the cameras installed in the neighbourhood.  The police have also prepared the sketches to identify and trace the accused. 

The DCW demanded a copy of the First Information Report (FIR), details of the accused, and probe details from the police. They also asked the police whether they had booked the school authorities under the POCSO Act. 

The North East district police has registered a case sections of the POCSO Act.
