Two teenage girls were found hanging to a tree in Farrukhabad of Uttar Pradesh; it is suspected to be a case of double suicide.
The police are trying to find the reason behind it while the families have alleged double murder.
The police stated that both teenagers, aged 18 and 15, were found hanging from the same dupatta and from the same tree in a mango orchard in Farrukhabad. The girls' bodies were found on in the orchard. They had gone out to watch the Janmashthami programme with their families on August 26 night, and the orchard was 150 metres away from the venue.
A mobile phone, belonging to the cousin of the elder girl, and a SIM card were recovered from the scene. Furthermore, the SIM card was found in the clothes of the younger victim, police added.
The police added that the primary search of the spot showed one SIM card from a dual SIM phone and it has raised doubts that why only one card was removed. The police have gathered the device's IMEI and the call details of the SIM card to dig deeper into the case.
The cousin whose mobile phone was found on the scene also watched the event with the teenagers' families.
The autopsy reported has stated that both the girls died due to asphyxiation.
Moreover, the recovered items have been sent to the cyber laboratory to recover data and aid in the investigation.
