Two women from MP found half buried in gravel during protests, rescued

The women were buried up to their neck while they were opposing the construction of a road on private land in Hinota Jorot village

New Delhi, July 22

Two women in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district were partially buried when gravel was dumped on them from a truck, while they were protesting against road construction in the area.

The women were identified as Mamta Pandey and Asha Pandey who were buried up to their necks in the pile of gravel while they were opposing the construction of a road on private land in Hinota Jorot village.

A video of the incident went viral on social media. The women were later rescued by the locals and rushed to a nearby community health centre for treatment.

The police took cognizance of the video and registered an FIR. They also seized the dumper and arrested one of the accused while the other two are still absconding.

Speaking about the incident, ADG, Law and Order, Jaideep Prasad said that it was a family matter of an alleged land dispute. 

The police are probing the case further.
